Bed & Bike Inn CicliAmor Charity Ride Bicycle Inn 02-10-2007 Gold Hill, NC


Ellen and Tim from the Bed & Bike Inn in Gold Hill,NC host the CicliAmor charity ride. 58 miles and 4658 feet of accumulative climbing (maybe). I believe we traversed a 17% grade as well as a 13% grade.

Early Morning at the Bed & Bike Inn- I actually missed the photo I wanted. The camera would operate very slowly because of the temperature and chill factor. The batteries, which were new AAs, would die, completely, long before the ride was over. Mary Hughes made sure there was a good group from Greensboro. My longest cycling buddy, Dave Gehrman, exits the log cabin where I stayed for the night. The early part of the the ride contains the Stanley County Death Loop. The stanley County Death Loop has a few hills that are short enough but very, very hard. The hill starts above and may be a quarter mile or so. The Stanley County Death Loop may have grades of 12% and better. Well, that's what my altimeter says. No one died on the Cabarrus County Death Loop! The Uwharrie Vineyards. My buddy Dave did some wine tasting and loved every drop, I, Michael, bought a bottle of Merlot. I know almost nothing at all about wine. I do know what I like. This was the best tasting Merlot I've ever had. It had a nice taste that lingered for a while. I was ready for the double espresso and sweet carbs at the Campus Grounds Coffee Shop. Unfortunately my batteries were completely dead after the Campus Grounds Coffee Shoppe. I missed pictures for the remainder of the ride including "Gravity Hill".
