Chris Boone
of Mitchell County wants to tell you about

Hospice

Hospice of Mitchell County goes to great lengths to care for its terminally ill patients.
As a matter of fact they will go the 470 miles of "Blue Ridge Parkway"
with Chris Boone to set an "end to end" "Parkway" record to raise funds and awareness.

After staying awake one night in the Fall of 1999, Chris proposed that he break the record for riding the "Blue Ridge Parkway" that snakes from Cherokee, NC to Rockfish Gap near Waynesboro, VA. The record- 31 & 1/2 hours.

He would do this as a much needed fund raiser for Hospice.
Our Hospice needs your help. Let them hear from you soon.

After another sleepless night on June 27th the oddyssey began on the 28th at approximately 4:10 am with fog in the immediate forcast. The first task on the agenda was for Chris to climb Waterrock Knob which is a good days work in itself.

After another 20 miles of climbing and descending Chris was rewarded with a 17 mile downhill to Asheville which meant hills and downhills to the "Folk Art Center" and then about 20 miles of continuous climbing to Craggy.

Here is Chris at the tunnel just before the visitors' center at
"Craggy Gardens".
At this point Chris had ridden over 100 miles
and still looked fresh

At mile-marker 140 a prayer-circle was formed.

It's important that we break the "Parkway" record.

But it's more important that we pray for MaLeah right now.

At the "Peaks of Otter in the fog and rain and cold wearing wet cycling shorts and a short-sleevejersey, Chris said, "I'm cold".
